If you’ve been following my Instagram for a while, you’ll know I’m quite the fan of Nikki Beach. I can’t say it’s my every-weekend haunt, but for a girls day out or guaranteed atmosphere with a beautiful setting – it’s one I’d highly recommend.
My mum was out in Dubai and I thought what better way to cure her jet lag than sushi and a gorgeous beach sunset. Midweek, so certainly quieter than weekends, but no fear of it being empty. If you want something more peaceful – head to the beach, if you’re looking for a more ‘party’ vibe, then the pool is your spot.
Pool and beach aside though, what I really adore about Nikki and what keeps me coming back time and time again, is the food. It’s not the afterthought, (unlike a lot of successful beach club chains) but rather the stamp on what so rightfully places Nikki amongst the best of it’s kind.
For me, it’s creative, great quality produce and has that balance of healthy and indulgent options just right.
We start with wagyu beef tartare, tuna tataki, sashimi platter and the ‘Saint Tropez roll’ – a tempura shrimp and crab meat roll covered is crispy quinoa. Something I’m planning on replicating at home!
And, of course, the obligatory
glass bottle of rosé wine. One worth mentioning too because the house Nikki Beach rosé is beautifully crisp and pale – which has got to be a first for house wines. The house rosés are normally the ones you’d never order, almost the colour of a merlot with a ridiculous price tag. Theirs, on the other hand, comes in at around AED 300 (if my memory serves me correctly) and is as good as any other.
I can’t say the rest of the drinks menu is as economical but to be honest, that’s Dubai in general for you!
Views aren’t too shabby either…
We skipped on mains and went for two more starter courses instead. Partly because we were quickly getting full, but mainly because I’ve tried this shrimp dish before and every bite is a mouthful of heaven.
Marbella shrimp pil pil and spanish octopus … Mediterranean cooking at it’s finest!
That is indeed a side serving of the most buttery and garlicky toasted french bread. One would be committing a crime if they didn’t use it to soak up all that incredible sauce!
Just when we thought our stomachs couldn’t fit anymore, we received a recommendation from the chef for a killer dessert.
This right here is what Nikki Beach calls their “Chic & Choc”. A combination of tonka bean, chocolate mousse, caramel ganache and gold flakes. It is Dubai, after all!
Mum questioned how ‘healthy’ this week was really going to be…
We figured we best walk off the demolished 1000 calorie dessert, so took to the beach in time for sunset.
By a long stretch, one of the most prettiest and most relaxing beaches Dubai has to offer.
A day well spent, as you might have already guessed by our ear-to-ear smiles!
There are always events going on but one to put in the diary is “ladies day”. They have it every Tuesday and as a woman (I know men, so unfair) you get a special offer which gives you a complimentary bed and 6 drinks for 130 AED – not bad!
